
It is recognized as an institution that serves as a reference for the prevention, control, and reduction of pollution in Timor-Leste, in order to ensure a healthy, sustainable, and safe environment for current and future generations
1. Monitors, inspects, and controls sources of pollution (air, water, soil, and waste) throughout the country. 2. Establishes environmental standards, regulations, and norms, and enforces them through legal measures. 3. Promotes pollution prevention and reduction programs, environmental education, and public awareness. 4. Cooperates with local institutions, communities, and the private sector to implement environmental control actions. 5. Manages the Environmental Monitoring System, reports on the state of the environment, and proposes corrective policies.
